At Idwal, we are proud to welcome NS United Kaiun Kaisha, Ltd. (NSU) as the latest partner to Idwal ID, our condition monitoring and improvement programme, further strengthening our global reach in vessel condition assessment and benchmarking.

As part of this initiative, NSU will undertake simultaneous condition surveys across its fleet of over 40 vessels during the first half of FY 2025, working with Idwal to gain an independent, data-driven understanding of fleet maintenance and quality.

“The main objectives are to grasp the maintenance status and vulnerability of our ships using a standardised checklist by an independent global inspection company,” NSU states. “We will also confirm the status of maintenance improvements made since our last fleet-wide inspection and support our crews in aligning with evolving industry expectations.”

With bulk carriers historically experiencing fewer external inspections compared to other vessel types, NSU’s proactive approach ensures a robust, transparent evaluation process that enhances long-term fleet quality and operational efficiency.

Idwal ID provides shipowners and operators with a structured, independent framework to track vessel condition over time, benchmark performance against global standards, and implement meaningful improvements. By partnering with Idwal, NSU is taking a decisive step in reinforcing its commitment to fleet quality and continuous improvement.
