Celebrating Sue Henney: A Well-Deserved Recognition in the Maritime Media
The entire team at Idwal are delighted to celebrate an exceptional milestone and one of our most-loved colleagues. Our Head of Marketing, Sue Henney, has been named one of All About Shipping’s 100 Top Women in Shipping for 2024—a truly well-deserved honour.
Since joining Idwal in January 2022, Sue has made an immeasurable impact on both our business and our customers. Her expertise, dedication, and passion for the maritime industry have been nothing short of extraordinary. With over 30 years of experience in the sector, Sue’s contributions extend far beyond her role at Idwal. She is a trustee of ISWAN (International Seafarers Welfare Assistance Network), a co-founder of the Liverpool Propeller Club, and an active member of Liverpool’s Port Welfare Committee. Her influence and leadership in the maritime industry are truly inspiring.
As Sue herself has expressed, this recognition extends beyond individuals—it is a celebration of the incredible women shaping the future of maritime. We at Idwal couldn’t agree more. We are proud to work alongside so many talented professionals, both women and men, who are driving meaningful progress in our industry.
Please join us in congratulating Sue on this fantastic achievement. Well done, Sue!

Beyond that, she’s a passionate advocate for seafarers’ welfare, always striving to improve the lives of those at the heart of the industry. She’s a fantastic colleague—supportive, collaborative, and always encouraging those around her to grow. This recognition is well deserved!"

"Sue may be small in stature but she is a powerhouse in shipping. Her breadth of knowledge and experience combined with her willingness to share it, has helped me enormously since I started at Idwal 4 months ago. Thanks to Sue, when I was thrown into the deep end, I managed to swim and not sink. Idwal Marine is passionate about crew welfare and it didn't take me long to realise that this change in company policy was driven largely by Sue and the desperate need for the shipping industry to do more. Sue strives to make conditions better for all those working at sea and I know she is proud to be on the board of the Liverpool Shipwreck & Humane Society, The Intl Seafarer's Welfare & Assistance Network (ISWAN) & The Propeller Club Liverpool & North West."
